ridhi dogra, social media, ranbir kapoor,

Ridhi Dogra has participated in the reality shows Nach Baliye 6 and Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 6.
She studied at Apeejay School, Sheikh Sarai in New Delhi and graduated in Psychology (Honours) from Kamala Nehru College. In an exclusive interview, Ridhi Dogra remarks social media followers don’t justify any actor’s talent, taking the example of Ranbir Kapoor.

Ridhi Dogra on being active on social media defines an actor

When asked if being active on social media is necessary for actors, Ridhi Dogra said, “I don’t think so, and I also think that what you consider important is necessary for you. If someone else were sitting here in my place, they might say it’s very important, because in their world, based on their mind and their perception, the way they see the world, it would be important for them. But for me, it’s not necessary. Because I feel that social media is somewhat of an illusion. I can go to the theatre and perform, I can perform in front of the camera as well. Anyone can take the power away at any time. Tomorrow if someone says, ‘Don’t do this,’ I won’t do it. I have enough self-capacity.”

Ridhi Dogra on actors rejected due to fewer followers

Speaking about actors facing rejections because of fewer followers on social media, the actress said, “Look, no one says it to your face. No one will tell you directly, ‘Ridhi, your followers are less; I wanted to take you, but sorry, I can’t.’ But with me, there’s another story, right? Since I’m from TV, how many more sorts of labels can we add? If you don’t have followers, then you don’t. Some of the biggest actors in the world, in the globe don’t have them. In fact some of the biggest stars are not even on Instagram.”

Ridhi Dogra concluded, “Now look at Ranbir Kapoor, he is such a big actor in our industry but, he has been using social media via a hidden account. So does that justify his craft or stardom as an actor? No right. So, I don’t think talent is dependent on numbers. It’s just a fad. Earlier, it used to be something else, now it’s this, and tomorrow it will be something else. But if your craft is solid, and if you keep working on it, then there is no stopping you.”
